Frequently asked questions
"How is the fee calculated—per signature, per document, or per person?"
Customers worry about documents with multiple signatures or signers adding up unexpectedly. Fees are charged per notarial act (usually per signature or acknowledgment notarized), following standard Washington practice. For example, if a power of attorney has one principal signing (one acknowledgment), it's one act; if multiple people need their signatures notarized on the same or different documents, each is counted separately. I always explain exactly how many acts are involved before proceeding, so there are no surprises.
"Are there extra charges for after-hours, weekends, same-day, or urgent/hospital visits?"
People in time-sensitive or emergencies (like hospital stays or tight deadlines) often fear rush fees. No—there are no added surcharges for evenings, weekends, same-day requests, or challenging locations like hospitals/rehab centers. The pricing stays consistent and fair, even when flexibility matters most.
"What's included besides the notarization itself?"
A common hesitation is whether things like document review, printing, copies, or supplies cost extra. The service includes a thorough review of your documents for proper completion (to avoid errors), clear explanations of the process, proper ID verification, accurate certificate completion, and journaling—all part of the act. If copies or printing are needed on-site, I can often handle basic needs without additional charges. Still, any unusual extras (like extensive copying) would be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
"How do I know the total cost before you arrive?"
Transparency is key—many have dealt with vague quotes or hidden fees elsewhere. I provide a clear, simple fee schedule: $15 for the first Notarial Act, plus a $20 travel fee in Spokane; $40 for travel outside Spokane, and Additional Notarial Acts are $5 per act.
"Is the service more expensive because it's mobile and personalized?"
Some assume mobile means premium pricing. While mobile convenience adds real value (time saved, no travel for you, especially valuable in health-related or complicated situations), the approach keeps fees reasonable and focused on the actual notarial work—no inflated markups. The stamp price ($15) and the travel fee (ie. $20 in Spokane or $40 outside Spokane) remain the same.
“We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice or draft documents. We only perform notarial acts on documents you have already prepared.”
